Obesity Symptoms and Treatment

Obesity, or obesity as it is known, is known as a disease that threatens the most developed countries today. Obesity, which has been affecting human health with increasing violence for the last half century, directly or indirectly kills millions of people every year.

Obesity, which is defined as a fatal disease due to this, can affect the person for years if timely measures are not taken. Obesity, which can be defined very easily due to its symptoms, is one of the diseases that say “I am coming”. Obesity, which is easy to diagnose and treat, is unfortunately difficult for patients to heal. For this reason, it is essential to recognize obesity early and to take early measures for treatment.

Symptoms of Obesity

As we mentioned before, obesity is an easily defined disease. Especially in recent months, the increase in the rate of fat in the person is one of the most obvious symptoms of obesity. Therefore, it is very important for patients to regularly control their weight and take precautions.

Body Mass Index, in other words Body Mass Index (BMI), helps patients to identify the presence and level of obesity. In this way, we can easily determine how overweight patients are, thanks to this classification. Today, BMI is still known as one of the most useful classifications, although it does not give enough clear results. Because you can control your BMI even by yourself.

Body Mass Index calculation, also known as the obesity calculation method, can be made by dividing the body weight in kilograms by the height in m2. In other words, knowing the height and weight of the patient is sufficient to calculate BMI.

Let’s say you weigh 100 kilos and your height is 1.70 cm. In this case, you have to multiply your weight by your weight and divide it by your height.

100 kilograms / 1.70 * 1.70
2.89 = 34.60 (in the group with increased Obesity-Diabetes and other diseases)

An individual listed above is unfortunately obese. Surgical intervention is required in patients with a BMI of 35 and above.

There are 6 obesity classifications according to the BMI definition. The classification you will see below is common. There may be individual differences and expert support may be required to make a complete classification.

  • Weak <18,5
  • Normal 18,5-24,9
  • Bulk (overweight) 25-29,9 (slightly increased risk of diabetes and heart disease)
  • Obese 1 (Obesity) 30-34,9 (The risks of diabetes and other diseases increase gradually)
  • Obese 2 (Morbid obesity) 35-39,9
  • Obese 3 (Super morbid obesity) >40 (risk in terms of fatal diseases)

Obesity Treatment Method

Let’s explain which class of people should get help with obesity. If you are in the Obese 1, 2 or 3 classification, you should definitely get expert help. Because as the situation progresses, treatment methods will be limited and difficult. Super morbid obesity patients in the obese 3 class may have very serious health problems. In particular, irreversible damage to the respiratory system will significantly shorten the life span of the person.

Surgical intervention is the most accurate treatment method in obesity. Surgical methods in obesity are now definitive treatment thanks to today’s developing medical techniques. Many methods, especially the laparoscopic method, enable patients to regain their former health in a very short time. For these reasons, you can also make an appointment with the relevant department of the nearest hospital.

It is also important to know other causes of obesity. The importance of psychological counselors is very critical in cases of obesity increasing due to psychological reasons. At the same time, help from a dietician who has expertise in coping with obesity is critical.
