If a person eats more calories than they burn, an excess of calories will occur naturally. This excess begins to be stored within the body. This calorie increase in the person causes fat and naturally weight gain.

One of the biggest causes of weight gain is eating more calories than burned. Excess calories are taken by eating too much. Small portions in physical terms but large in calories are unfortunately among the foods that cause weight gain. As an example, we can show the general of fast food products. Fried products cause excess calorie intake due to the excessive fat they contain. If we completely remove fast food products and carbonated-sweet drinks such as coke from our lives, we can control excess calorie intake.

Measures that can be taken for unhealthy nutrition are as follows:

  • Reduce the portions and increase the number of meals. Eat little and often.
  • Do not consume the foods in the main meals within 4 hours before going to sleep. You can consume water and snacks.
  • Water consumption will speed up your metabolism and increase calorie burning. It also helps in removing toxic substances from the body.
  • Never skip meals! Skipping meals is the enemy of regular nutrition.
  • Consume foods made of healthy fats as much as possible. Increase the use of olive oil and try to avoid fats.
  • Water consumption before and during meals will limit your eating more than necessary.
  • Homemade meals are healthier than fast food. Therefore, make it a habit to cook at home.

Another cause of obesity is sedentary life. Especially people who work at a desk and get used to office life are deprived of sports activities. However, one of the basic components of a healthy life is to exercise. An adult should exercise for 30 minutes, at least three days a week. Weekends and days off are a great opportunity to exercise. If you have not had a recent surgery and therefore it is not forbidden to do sports by the doctor, you should definitely spare time for sports.

While doing sports, people naturally look for additional tools such as mats or pilates. However, doing sports does not only mean using technological devices. It is also a sport to walk to work from time to time or to climb the stairs a few extra times. Simple stretching movements can be considered as a sport, especially during break times in office life. Our main goal is to move as much as possible. In addition, the correct positioning of the posture will make us less difficult when doing sports. Often a wrong sitting for a long time causes pain during movement and people do not want to move. However, correct posture will provide us with the necessary incentives to act. While doing sports, pay attention to the following:

  • Start by making warm-up movements. Heavy movements can cause injury or pain.
  • Don’t be afraid of post-workout muscle soreness. This is natural and proof that your muscles are working.
  • Regular exercise for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week allows you to get away from a sedentary life.
