Thyroid Cancer and Thyroid Disorders
Thyroid cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the thyroid gland, located at the front of the neck. It usually progresses slowly and may present with symptoms such as a thyroid nodule, hoarseness, or difficulty swallowing. Ultrasound and biopsy are commonly used during the diagnostic process.
Treatment typically involves surgery (thyroidectomy) followed by radioactive iodine therapy when necessary.
Other thyroid disorders include goiter, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism, which involve hormonal imbalances. Accurate diagnosis and proper follow-up are essential for managing both functional thyroid issues and reducing cancer risk.
